Choo Choo Charles Creator Gavin, gave two videos about why you don’t one to make games (persuading you not to make games its a lousy business) and another for those that want to make games and be in the industry.

I feel that making Games is not for everyone and the only way to know is to try making games yourself or just for a hobby first. i remembered this advice about trying to be a Youtuber where you should make a 100 videos first before quitting if you have made that and still in the Game you really want to be a creator.

I want to encourage those considering to try and make a few games for itch.io. Its low friction and easy to publish. Start with Game Maker, Godot or Unity. I will stay away from Unreal for a while at the early stages, its too complicated. Start wit 2D much easier and later on some light 3D Games.

Learning to make games takes a few years of learning. There is so much subject matter to learn from Game Art animation, Marketing and Business. Right now with the industry down with layoffs i doubt a major company will train you.

I agree one key factor mention in the video is marketing, I have not learn is marketing and the marketability of the game genre

You need Marketing, Behaviour Psychology and Learning about the Algorithmns on steam how they work. Its a lot of work but if you feel the need to create nothing is stopping you.

Best of luck to those making games.
