🎮Game News: Xbox Prime / Kenna and Handheld

Xbox Next will be more PC Based

So Soon Next Xbox Prime (Not ture) and Handheld are going to be more PC Based. I do look forward to this ecosystem from Microsoft, since I use windows already. There is also the rumor about steam being on the next xbox based on a leaked image.

Xbox Prime is not the next Xbox but its an interesting that Microsoft is trying to get more OEMs for the next one the handheld.

There is also rumors that the Xbox Next console will have steam? I do think this is realistic as a developer I can make a game for windows and it will work across devices, not counting mobile.

Xbox Hanheld

Microsoft is working on a partner gaming handheld with ASUS, set to launch later this year. Project "Kennan" is part of a wider effort at Microsoft to engage OEMs on Xbox-style gaming hardware.

The Unreal Homegenization of media

I feel that media was going Transmedia I saw Howard Houston videos on this Super Story World, and as a strategy this is good but I am Not sure how it can be executed.

To me the best examples is from Japan Final Fantasy VII series Compilation or Capcom Games

As an indie I feel that it’s something to get on maybe if you have scope and budget for it. But the author is saying every creator needs to be a generalist rather than a specialist, due more to the economics. Unreal is cementing itself as the OS Engine of moving 3d assets around.

  • Introduction to Trans Media: The video introduces the concept of trans media, which involves the seamless transfer of assets and creative work across different media platforms like film and games \[00:59]. This approach is set to change how media is created and experienced \[00:24].

  • Virtual Production's Role: Virtual production, particularly using Unreal Engine, is a key factor in blurring the lines between film and game development \[02:03]. It allows for real-time pipelines where assets created in the engine can be used in final shots, not just for pre-visualization \[02:24].

  • Trans Media Pipeline: The traditional adaptation of games into movies or shows is evolving. Now, assets are extracted or rebuilt from games for use in shows, and then these upgraded assets are returned to the game studio for use in future games or DLC \[04:20].

  • Impact on Consumers: Trans media can enhance the consumer experience by creating interconnected worlds. For example, a show might introduce a new environment that later becomes a playable space in the game \[05:38].

  • Impact on Developers/Artists: As film and game studios merge, artists and developers need to broaden their skill sets. Environment artists may need to design levels for both gameplay and cinematic use, and technical artists might develop tools for both film and game production \[07:15].

  • Industry Restructuring: Trans media represents a fundamental restructuring of the entertainment industry, aiming to reinvigorate engagement across multiple forms of media \[09:23]. This shift is already underway and will shape the future of entertainment \[10:43].
