# 🗝️ Bosskey Newsletter #3 Things: 1 🎮 Game news, 1 🔎 Interesting Find, 1 📱Social Post. Written by a Part Time Indie Game Dev

Hello,
So the Nintendo Direct Came and Went this month with lots of Buzz on the Switch 2, the price of the console and the games.
Anw Casey Niestat has a nice coverage of the event in his Vlog Style his verdict his Nintendo still values fun.
Some Thoughts
Switch 2 could be good for AA or Indie Games I do think Switch 1 had a lot of indie games I have never applied or tried devloping for it but it is something I hope someday I can. Nintendo can do to get more indie devs onboard.
Graphics Wise it might look like AA Games so a game being made for switch 2 will probably costs less than Xbox S|X or PS5.
I think its has potential to carry on the legacy of the Switch 1 not sure if the consumers will bite though with the new way games prices.
I do think the Joy Con 2 has potential for newer game types since you can make it a mouse. Camera and Game Chat might be interesting for multiplayer games
Nintendo also seems keen to expand beyound Japan and UK, US, hope they put Asia as a region outside of japan, with more focus for the Switch 2. There is already an expansion into Asia in places like Thailand and China but the greater Asia region outside of Japan favors PC and Mobile so yet to be seen about it.

🎮Game News: Switch 2 Nintendo Direct
Thought the nintendo Direct was good with a good showing of the games.
Nintendo stills values the fun on games. With Mario Kart World taking the charge.
The only thing I wondered is why the Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a paid $10 game.

📱Social Post : Switch 2 Game Prices Digital Cheaper? Pre Orders Mess?

This week Pre Orders went up but were a mess as many online tried to get one. You can watch Kit and Krystal Podcast about it and read it on Reddit.
Switch 2 Game price Increase to $80 USD Digital Cheaper than Physical?
Reactions online are not so good but I do think Nintendo has run their simulations with tarriffs incoming. Mario Kart world is going to be on the higher priced side but they are already looking at varaible pricing for games not sure how that will work out.
I am not sure how the console will sell now with the tariff delays but it will probably be sold out when it goes on launch. Already pre orders are hard to fulfil.
Maybe it might be better to get the Digital Versions as the physical will be impacted by Tariffs.

🔎 Nintendo Expansion into Asia MENA
Expansion in Asia & MENA
From Niko Partners: Switch 2 Report
I only hope nintendo recognize asia more since there are a lot of fans here. But we are still tied to the US side?
Expansion in Asia & MENA:
Nintendo has been steadily increasing its presence in Asia (excl. Japan) & MENA over the past few years, including new partnerships to distribute the console in Saudi Arabia and Thailand, a new subsidiary in Chinese Taipei, and full entry into the mainland China market via Tencent. While eShop availability remains inconsistent across some markets, Nintendo’s transmedia initiatives (films, merchandise, parks) are expanding IP touchpoints in all markets and increasing the appeal of Nintendo’s first party titles, which can only be played on its hardware. Asia & MENA is home to a growing middle class and increased entertainment consumption, positioning the regions as key growth markets for Nintendo. The company has already seen strong growth in markets like China and South Korea with Switch.
In Asia & MENA, younger digital native audiences predominantly favor mobile and PC as their main platforms for gaming. Switch 2 sales in these regions will hinge on its ability to act as a complementary platform, supported by popular first- and third-party IP, localized services, and regional pricing. While we do see increased support across all three points, the high price of the console at launch may limit early adoption in these regions given its offering and pricing is now in line with the PS5 and mid-range PCs. According to Niko’s 2024 Gamer Behavior & Market Insights Reports, PlayStation is the leading console brand by market share in Asia excluding Japan.
That’s it thanks for reading this far!
