Are SG Local Gaming Companies still behind

Talent and funding crunch in the local game dev industry.

Talent and funding crunch

two men working on computers in an office

I feel that the same story might repeat itself for the games industry here saimilar to many years ago when the Goverment Attracted Lucasfilm to Singapore. Sadly it is closing its doors

Singapore attracts MNC and large AAA companies here because of low costs.

Lucasfilm already is moving its operations to Mumbai, I feel it is a matter of time

Playstation has a branch in Malaysia.

We need to move up the value chain.

If the local want to compete with the bigger industyr at large we cannot always be the cheapest. Vietnam, Cambodia and Philippines have cheaper software talent.

Cannot alwayas compete on Costs it was documented in this blog here, of what happened before with the animation and vfx industry.

Singapore offers a gateway to the growing market in Asia, but experts said there may be some more levelling up to do to get a slice of this pie.

We need to make our own IP and be more Entreprenuerial?

We have to learn from China Genshin Impact and Black Myth Wukong

I feel that we don’t have the local market size like China, look at the guys making Genshin Impact and Black Myth Wukong all started out in the Dorm Room with the Gumption Spirit to acheive. Maybe in Singapore We Don’t have that yet.
